The ONC BOCES School Library System and the Principals' Academy are joining forces for a day of professional development. Join us on May 23th for the 28th Annual Administrative Symposium - our keynote speaker is Gina Seymour.
Gina is the library media specialist at Islip High School Library on Long Island, NY. She has a Masters in Library Science from Queens College and a Masters in Education (Instructional Technology) from NYIT where she graduated with distinction and also received the Dean's Award for Excellence in Technology. She is the 2014 recipient of the SSLMA School Librarian of the Year award. Named�½Library Journal's Movers & Shakers 2017, Change Agent. In 2019, Gina was named an AASL Social Media Superstar Finalist in the Social Justice Defender category. She is the author of Makers with a Cause: Creative Service Projects for Library Youth and a chapter on inclusive makerspaces in School Library Makerspaces in Action (2018).
Administrators and school librarians will come together for the keynote about MakerSpaces. The keynote will be followed by the Administrator of the Year Award and the Susan Tumasella Award. Principals will then meet for Principal Academy. School librarians will have two PD sessions: Gina will provide two sessions about exploring societal themes, such as compassion, empathy and social action through the creation of authentic content and products.
